This hill is an archaeological site in Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, Sanliurfa. It is believed to be a social or spiritual site dating back to the 8th millennium BCE making it the fi rst temple in the world. It consists of massive T-shaped stone pillars in 20 circles.
With each pillar having a height of 6m, they weigh up to 10 tons. Although it is believed to be used as a temple, its actual purpose remains a mystery as no records of it was found. A German team led by Klaus Schmidt excavated the site. His research and knowledge made him believe it was a religious or spiritual settlement used by the area.
